Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
-Marianne Williamson
Enchanted by the above statement, am triggered to ponder, if its only as easy as it sounds to overcome our own limitation and fear, the world would have been a heaven. But why in reality such paucity for authentic souls?
The very thought of someone who has conquered the inner limitations and fear makes us think of only God or noble saints. Why? Why is that its not a way of life for everyone on the face of earth? Is it restricted only for the chosen few? What makes the difference between ordinary and extraordinary?
Series of questions started to unravel as I progressed from one session to another in my journey of becoming a coach
Concepts sounded little esoteric until I encountered this enlightening statement
“You just need one person from the family, to release the next generation of your past patterns & reactive tendencies and gift them a generative future”
This was my “Aha” moment in decades!!!
Generally our actions and responses are guided by the following as suggested by Stephen Covey
- Genetic Determinism – Genetic inheritance from parents
- Psychic Determinism – Related to upbringing
- Environmental Determinism – Something around you
Well this helped me to realize, to overcome aforesaid limitations, one needs to posses self-awareness, to deep dive into the realms of his/her own consciousness and work on very fabric of their existence
My metaphor for coaching is “Magical Mirror”. Why magical? Because it shows what’s present, how others perceive and more importantly what that person can eventually become
It goes without saying, Coach is the Magical Mirror, silent yet influential in revealing the secret ingredients of intrinsic transformation for the observer
Sometimes it reveals the unexpected, unpleasant characteristics of the observer. That’s why coaching is not for everyone
In this case, the observer needs to have the self-awareness that his/her wound is the pathway for liberation, accept the way he/she is and work on themselves
Why work on self? Why not start from the external world? Its for a simple reason, when you focus on yourself, your benchmark is nothing but your own set of principles and values which guides your thoughts, beliefs, intentions that leads you to your “True-North”
Your external world doesn’t work on your set of values and beliefs and hence no amount of work from that perspective shall lead to self-contentment
Spoiler Alert!!!
When you go further deep on the self-awareness, especially the intention from which one operates, sometimes you tend to realize the “True-North”has been the “True-South” in his/her life all the while
What else the magical mirror capable of? It helps the observer to live in the moment of accomplishing a desired goal, enjoy it and earn/yearn for it. Simply put “Getting a taste of victory”
While all the realization happening at the observer end, just by witnessing the image on the mirror, there comes a sacred moment, when all the internal chatter, disbelief, limitations, societal expectations vanishes momentarily, the conscious mind starts willingly subordinate to the unconscious mind and let the magic begin !!!
The subconscious mind, being the power house of positivity and unlimited potential ensures necessary paradigm shifts in thoughts and behavior of observer to manifest the dreams in his/her conscious mind
Remember the subconscious mind is a soil that can either grow flowers or weeds. The determining factor is the values and principles one operate from
What is the ambition of this magical mirror? Just the pleasure of serving as many observants to help them become their best version
What helps the magical mirror to stay consistent? Its own awareness of its unique talents & gifts and the finest realization that it doesn’t belong to it rather to those it serves. For, serving others and helping them to expand their level of consciousness is the highest calling of its incarnation !!!
